Lora LeMay, Ed.S.

Mrs. Lora R. LeMay is a licensed school psychologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children with educational disabilities and social-emotional disorders.  She comes to the Macks Psychology Group after serving 20 years in area public school systems.

 

Originally from Mason, Ohio, Mrs. LeMay earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience through Muskingum University.  During her undergraduate years Mrs. LeMay developed a passion for understanding the neurobiological basis of learning and social-emotional behavior.  She served a three-month internship in the neuroscience graduate program at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine prior to her senior year.  She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude and was awarded a Regent’s Fellowship to complete graduate studies at Miami University where she earned both a Master of Science degree and Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology.  Her thesis work was focused on animal-assisted therapy and pets’ impact on the social-emotional development of children.

 

Over the last 20 years, Mrs. LeMay has served as a school psychologist in the Hamilton, Finneytown, and Lakota school districts across the preschool through junior high grade levels.  She has extensive experience leading teams and parents through the special education process from consultation to intervention development, to evaluation and 504 Plan and Individual Education Program (IEP) implementation.  She has experience working with individuals with a variety of diagnoses such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma, depression, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and autism.  She has provided individual and group counseling based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  brief solution-focused therapy, mindfulness practices, and animal-assisted therapy.  She has had several opportunities to share her expertise in the areas of special education, ADHD, anxiety, and challenging behaviors through building, district-wide, and regional presentations.  She has also been selected for district-level teams to implement initiatives for best practice in addressing students’ social-emotional and learning needs.

 

Mrs. LeMay is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Board of Psychology.  She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and the American Psychological Association (APA).  She lives in Liberty Township with her husband, who is a dedicated elementary school teacher, her son and daughter, and a variety of pets.  When not working hard to serve the community, Mrs. LeMay enjoys hiking, kayaking, painting, reading, and volunteering at Animal Friends Humane Society.
