Andrea Hansen, M.A., CCC-SLP

Andrea Hansen is a licensed speech-language pathologist, both in the state of Ohio and Kentucky. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with developmental delays, particularly children who use augmentative and alternative communication. Andrea is very experienced in providing teletherapy assessment and treatment as well. She has experience working with a variety of speech and language disorders, including apraxia, fluency, language, articulation, autism, selective mutism, late talkers, pragmatics, and augmentative and alternative communication devices. Prior to joining the Macks Psychology Group, Andrea worked in private practice and in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. She has also worked in the complex needs and autism classrooms at local school districts, where she worked with students from PK-12 as well as with young adults. 

 

While working within Boone County schools, Andrea assisted students with limited verbal skills to develop better communication abilities through the use of a low tech communication system, such as a communication board, PECs, visual scripts or an eye gaze board. Furthermore, she provided training for teachers, para educators, peer tutors, and parents on using communication systems. In addition, Andrea ran social skills groups within the elementary and middle schools. Her passion lies in helping children find their voices.

Andrea earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in the area of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in her undergraduate program. She has furthered her education with Picture Exchange Communication (PECs) training and Hanen certification. Currently, she is in the process of earning a certificate as a Clinical Autism Specialist.

 

Andrea is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence. She has also earned several ACE awards through ASHA. She lives in Anderson Township with her husband, Bryan and their three children, Rowan, Thatcher, and Adelaide. She enjoys playing with her children, reading, hiking, and traveling.
