Social Pairing

What is Social Pairing?

Social pairing is an individualized small setting to work on meeting new peers, improve conversation skills, and learn how to make friends. After meeting with our speech pathologist, Andrea Hansen, the patients will be matched and meet together in future sessions. It is similar to our social skills groups, but on a much smaller scale.

Social Pairing is appropriate for adolescents 12 and up who have social skills deficits due to Autism, ADD, social anxiety or other communication concerns.

Like our social skills groups, social pairing is NOT appropriate for adolescents with any of the following:

  • Intellectual Disability

  • Severe Autism

  • Tantrums, outbursts, or defiance

  • Behavioral concerns

  • Selective Mutism

  • Self-harm or suicidal ideation

  • Psychosis
